Each of the seven lags makes available its extensive library of genealogical materials including bygdeboker, family histories, county history books, microfilm and other resources.  On-line access to research websites like the Digitalarkivet will also be available. Each lag has an experienced genealogist who can help you in your search for ancestors in their area of Norway.  If you need a translation of old Norwegian records and texts, there are translators available.  All of these resources and services are covered by the stevne registration fee.

Genealogy resources in Stevens Point

WI Historical SocietyThe Area Research Center Network (ARC) is composed of 14 sites located throughout the State of Wisconsin. Each ARC serves and houses the records for a specific geographic area. The ARC at the University of Wisconsin-Steven's Point serves a nine county area that includes Adams, Juneau, Langlade, Lincoln, Marathon, Portage, Waupaca, Waushara, and Wood Counties.  Our ARC contains public records, corporate records, personal papers and genealogical sources (i.e. tax rolls, naturalization records, oral histories, as well as birth, death, marriage, and census materials).  Transfers from other campus ARC's are possible through the Wisconsin Historical Society. The Portage County Records Office is located at 1516 Church Street in Stevens Point.  Hours for genealogy research are 9:00-11:30 and 1:00-3:30 Monday through Thursday.
