Examples of Some Norwegian Records
Thursday 2:30 PM Salon A-B
This presentation originated as a Norwegian language
class project at the Mindekirken in
Minneapolis.
Some of the record examples were obtained during a visit to the
Statsarkivet i Hamar in 2005, as part of family history research into land
holdings and vital records. The
Statsarkivet i Hamar is part of the Norwegian National Archives system and
its holding cover local and regional government records for both Hedmark and
Oppland.

Art Paulson began researching his
Norwegian ancestors when one of his brothers asked him to help find where
their Scandinavian ancestors once had lived.
This family history research led to Nord Torpa, Vingrom and Biri in
Oppland fylke in Norway and to Skåne in Sweden.
Art has been assisting the
Landingslag genealogist, Carol Olson, for several years.
He has been studying Norwegian, but because his knowledge of German
is better, his Norwegian teacher laments he speaks Norwegian with a German
accent. He is employed as an
engineer.
