Beginning Genealogy

Thursday  11:00 AM   Salon C-D

This session will review the steps you need to take to start or continue your research. Even though more resources are available on the internet all the time, there is still a need to use other resources available to researchers in the United States and abroad. The session will start with a discussion of sources in the United States at home, in courthouses, libraries and genealogical / historical societies. Also discussed will be Norwegian research and internet resources.

Barbara Horn has been researching her family history since the mid 1970s. She got interested in her ancestry when she was shown a small booklet that was a family history of one of her Norwegian ancestors and she found out that many of the people in the small town of Dallas, WI, were related to her. Barb’s father’s ancestors came from various parts of Germany. Barb’s mother’s ancestors came from Denmark, Valdres and Land.
